Herbal Eye-Health Tea

This tea combines herbs that are rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and nutrients that are believed to support eye health.

Ingredients:

  1. Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) – 1 tsp dried berries
    • Rich in anthocyanins, known to improve night vision and reduce eye strain.
  2. Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis) – 1 tsp dried herb
    • Traditionally used for eye discomfort, it’s said to soothe and protect the eyes.
  3. Gingko Biloba – 1 tsp dried leaves
    • May improve blood circulation to the eyes and protect against oxidative stress.
  4. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) – 1/4 tsp ground
    • Contains curcumin, an antioxidant that reduces inflammation, which may be beneficial for eye conditions like glaucoma.
  5. Fennel Seeds (Foeniculum vulgare) – 1 tsp crushed seeds
    • Often used to help reduce eye irritation and inflammation. It’s also high in antioxidants.

Optional:

  • Honey or stevia for sweetness
  • Lemon zest for added flavor

Instructions:

  1. Combine Herbs: In a teapot or infuser, mix the dried bilberry, eyebright, ginkgo leaves, turmeric, and fennel seeds.
  2. Boil Water: Bring 3 cups of water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  3. Steep: Pour the simmering water over the herbs and let it steep for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Strain & Sweeten: Strain the tea and add honey or stevia if desired. You can also add a bit of lemon zest for extra flavor.
  5. Enjoy: Sip the tea slowly, preferably in the morning or afternoon.

Notes:

  • You can drink this tea regularly, but always check with a healthcare professional if you have any underlying health conditions or are taking medications.
  • For a broth, simply use these herbs (except the turmeric, which can be added later) as part of a vegetable broth, and sip throughout the day.

These herbs are not only good for the eyes but also provide general health benefits with their rich antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.
